Will this kitchen ever be finished?

I am still working on redo-ing this kitchen. So far, most of the cabinets are refinished - I still have all the bottoms doors left to do, the walls are painted - just waiting for the second coat to dry so I can take down the blue tape, and the faux tiles are up and most of them have the base coat of paint on them - the ones over the sink are still drying. But, all in all, it looks like this project may done just in time for Thanksgiving. I'll be so glad to get my kitchen back!!!

On a happier note, Reese is 8 months old today! To celebrate, we went to Old Navy and got a winter hat and some baby house shoes to keep her little toes warm. Of course, once we got home and I put them on her, they are a little big and they keep falling off. But they are 6-12 months, so hopefully at some point they will fit her!

The sweetest sound

Reese has started saying "mama." I can't describe how wonderful it is to hear her little voice. She is growing so fast. As I am sitting in bed typing this now, I want to go and get her from her bed and bring her in here to sleep with me, just to have her close - as if holding her during the night will keep her little. But, I will just wait until morning when I hear that sweet word over the monitor - "mamama mama ma mama mama."

Having her cake...and eating it, too.

I made a cake yesterday. Tonight after dinner, I decided to let Reese try some. She loved it.

Taking a break from work...

Today has been an extremely productive day, despite still feeling like crap. I have worked for 5.1 hours on this appellate brief that is due one week from tomorrow. I still have about 15 hours to put in on it. So, there goes my weekend! But, I am now taking a short break to play on the internet and get Reese up.

Reese has been so good today. She took a 2 hour nap this morning and a 2 hour nap this afternoon!!! Don't let anyone tell you that God doesn't answer prayers!

I need a flu shot

Last year I got a flu shot because I was pregnant and it was the best $15 I have ever spent. Now, as I have been fighting a sore throat for 3 days now, I am wishing I already had one this year. I need to get to the doctor and get one now. I do not want to be sick this winter. It is hard enough trying to get everything done chasing Reese around the house, I sure don't need to be sick on top of everything else!

Apparently, Drew was bored in class and so he finally decided to join Facebook. My guess is that he will find it as addictive as I do. I can't get enough. I constantly find myself checking the Live Feed. Maybe its because I spend my day sitting in front of the computer doing short little spurts of work and checking other people's statuses every thirty minutes makes me feel connected to the outside world. I mean, before, there were people in the office. If I needed a break from the computer, I just went to get a cup of coffee and something/someone would entertain me for 5 minutes. Now, all I have is Reese (who has got to be sick of me saying "No, Reese.") and XM Kids and their catchy kiddy-jingles.

Though that makes it sound bad. And its not. All in all, things are good and I enjoy my days at home with Reese. I can't imagine not getting to share my days with her. Seven months have already flown by and so I can only imagine how fast the next 5 years will go and then she will be in school.

Weekend in Knoxville

Well, we just got back from our trip to Knoxville for the UT/Bama game. I must say, staying in an RV with a 7 month old is interesting! Especially when the people next to you feel the need to play "Jump Around" at least 10 times as loud as possible over the course of 2 days!

It was so cold, but we had a good time. Reese got to go to her first game at Neyland stadium. She was so good. She fell asleep during the second quarter so we left at half time, but we didn't really miss much since Tennessee decided not to really play in the second half.

My first time...

If you are reading this, you are a part of something very special - - my first time as a blogger! I have always come late to the new trends in technology - I didn't get a DVD player until after I graduated from college, I didn't get an iPod until after law school and I didn't join Facebook until like 2 months ago! But, once I quit being an old geezer and join the revolution, I always find myself wondering how I've lived without it.

Hopefully, blogging will bring the same joy to my life! If not, it can be one more abandoned project I leave behind.

So, here I am. Sitting in my new "home office" in the rarely visited upstairs of our recently purchased home in Cayce, Mississippi, typing at my "new" desk that Stephen and Kayla let me borrow and once again putting off work that I need to be doing. And when I finish this, I have another project up my sleeve that I found after, what else, playing on the internet - never mind that I have 10 more cabinet doors downstairs waiting to be sanded so that I can begin step 12,000 of 15,067,259 in the life consuming task that has been refinishing my kitchen cabinets - and lets not even mention that I still have to paint the walls and do the faux tile backsplash in there all while drafting an appellate brief due by the end of the month!

I have been experiencing Life as a Womack now for almost 2 1/2 years - - almost 5 if you count from when Drew and I started dating, and I couldn't be happier. Drew has gone from selling wood, to bricks, now to pipes (which now that I write it, all sound like euphemisms for selling himself, drugs and then drug paraphernalia, but I swear that's not the case!) I finally have the one job I've always wanted - being a mother. And Reese is getting bigger by the day and getting into everything. Overall, things are good.

But, I think this is enough for now, and I'll have to say that was surprising less painful than I thought my first time would be!!
